Howard Rockman will speak on Securing Innovative Properties.

Mr. Rockman is an intellectual property attorney practicing in Chicago. To be a patent or intellectual property attorney, one must be an engineer or scientist. Mr. Rockman is an engineer educated at Drexel University and an active member of IEEE. In addition to handling a large practice in this field, he teaches at John Marshall Law School and at UIC in the Master of Engineering program. His latest book is Intellectual Property Law for Engineers and Scientists, a text which is sprinkles with chapters highlighting remarkable inventions.

Last spring, he spoke to over 35 engineers thinking about attending law school after receiving their engineering degrees. He is entertaining and intense. It is guaranteed to be enlightening.

The fee for alumni and friends is $20.00. However, if you are currently enrolled in the College of Engineering, we will reduce the fee to $10.00 for the reception and talk. If you elect to just attend the talk, the EAA will waive the fee.

You must respond immediately if you plan to attend the reception. The deadline is this Friday, April 22, 2005. Checks should be payable to the UIC College of Engineering and delivered to Room 811 SEO. If you only plan to attend the talk, please send a note to eaa@uic.edu.
