Alan Meyer is a founder and has been chief executive officer of Ocularis Pharma, Inc., a development-stage, ophthalmic products company, since 2002. He was executive vice president, chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors of PathoGenesis Corporation from 1992 through 2000. During his tenure, PathoGenesis developed and commercialized the world's first aerosolized antibiotic. PathoGenesis went public in 1995 and was sold to Chiron Corporation in 2000 for $730 million.
Prior to PathoGenesis, he served as chief financial officer of several development-stage companies in healthcare, and held positions of increasing responsibility in corporate finance and corporate development at Baxter Healthcare Corporation. He also worked as a consultant for Arthur Andersen & Co. He is currently a member of the boards of directors of Aksys, Ltd, a home hemodialysis products company, and of North Riverside Community Theater, a non-profit theater group.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University
