Note:
Distribution requirements can be fulfilled through Bridge Series work and 400-level offerings in the department. Advanced undergraduate courses with a grade of B or better may be counted toward these distribution requirements with the permission of the Director of Graduate Studies. No more than two undergraduate courses can be used to fulfill distribution requirements. Credit toward the MA is not given for any course in which the student receives a grade of less than B.

Classes are four (4) credits each (view COURSES by series list) unless otherwise noted.

Independent Study
Students may sign up to work independently with one of our faculty. No more than four hours of credit taken in ENGL 596 may be counted toward the degree.

MA Qualifying Paper
A Master's Project consisting of a qualifying paper is required for all English concentrations. No other options are available. All students -- regardless of concentration -- MUST register for ENGL 597 during the semester when working on project. No more than four hours may be counted toward degree.
