** EaES Ranks High in Survey of Earth Science Programs **
The results from a survey of doctorate programs performed by the National Research Council, called "A Data-based Assessment of Research-Doctorate Programs in the United States", show that EaES is highly rated. Among the 129 Earth Science programs surveyed, EaES tied for 1st in percent of faculty with grants, ranked 7th in average annual number of publications per faculty, tied for eighth in research activity, and tied for 11th in the survey-based cumulative ranking

Terra Society
The Terra Society is an organization within the department which functions to promote social activities among students, foster student - faculty interaction, and promote the Department. All EaES students are eligible for membership in the Society. Students and hobbyists in other disciplines are also welcome to become members.
