Dating mud using organic compounds
.We are looking
for an undergradaute student in Earth and Environmental Sciences
to carry out a study in the Organic
Geochemistry Laboratory . This project involves the extraction,
separation, and characterization of molecular fossils in
Holocene clays from the Mississippi Delta. The overall goal
of this project is to 14C date individual lipids for a better
age estimation of clastic sediments. Credit in organic chemistry
will be favored, but is not a requirement. This project can
be conducted as part of an independent study (EaES 396).
The schedule is flexible.
