Lacustrine Sediment Cores,

Taylor Valley Antarctica.

Taylor Valley in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of East Antarctica contains a number of closed basin perennially ice-covered lakes. In November 2002 Lakes Fryxell, Hoare and Bonney (East and West Lobe) were cored. The Taylor Valley lacustrine cores are important because they have the potential to yield information on the magnitude of climate variability and modes of climatic change from the Pleistocene through the Late Holocene, allowing us to produce a deeper understanding of Antarctic environmental sensativity.
