Geochemistry, mineralogy and petrology

Research focuses on synchrotron radiation studies of mineral-fluid interfaces at the Advanced Photon Source, structure and unique properties of clay minerals, stable isotope investigations of chlorinated compounds, basic inquiry on weathering, diagenesis, and mobility of environmental contaminants, the discovery and use of biomarkers to better constrain paleo-water column structure in ancient oceans and lakes, and biogeochemical cycles in thermal ecosystems.
