Conservation Close to Home
Terra Society has adopted the 12th Street Beach where Roosevelt Rd. meets Lake Michigan. During the fall of 2006 and in partnership with the Alliance for the Great Lakes, Terra Society committed to this ongoing, long-term community service project. The Alliance's Adopt-a-Beach program aims to keep the Great Lakes healthy by promoting community stewardship of these invaluable resources. Adopters visit their beach several times a year to monitor water quality, the state of the beach, and clean up litter. Collected data are loaded into the Alliance's database for record keeping and assessment.

On November 18th Terra Society volunteers spent their first morning at the beach, located on Chicago's beautiful museum campus. Any volunteer from UIC is welcome to join these fun and productive outings. For more information or to volunteer, contact M. Kerr at Terra Society (mkerr3@uic.edu). See you on the shore!

Terra Society Photo Gallery
In an effort to raise some funds for the Terra Society as well as help out the impoverished (undergrad/grad students, staff, professors) this semester we are initiating an art gallery in the EAES lounge.
