The Great Lakes Regional Stroke Network was developed by six state health departments cardiovascular program staff and state stroke task force members in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin to increase stroke awareness and prevention and control activities within and across the region. The GLRSN is built upon existing relationships that have continued for over 25 years.

The mission of the GLRSN is to optimize collaboration and coordination among the Great Lakes Regional States to reduce the burden of stroke and disparities.

Priorities of the Network are as follows:

Evaluation and Surveillance

Quality
of Care

  EMS Notification and Response

Incorporating lessons learned from the Tri State Stroke Network, the Delta States Stroke Consortium and the Stroke Belt Consortium, the GLRSN works through:

  State Advisory Board
  Work Groups
  State Stroke Task Forces

To share experiences, lessons learned, best practices and resources. Crossing state lines, sharing knowledge, resources and leadership is a step towards reducing the third leading cause of death.
