The American Stroke Association provides many important tools and
resources to help hospitals become ready for certification.
A
critical component of a stroke program is the administration of the NIH
Stroke Scale. The NINDS/NIH training and testing DVD can be obtained
from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. The
cost of the 2-DVD set is $50. To order a DVD please call 1-800-352-9424

National
Stroke Association offers a paper version of the NIHSS exam that
corresponds with the NINDS/NIH exam DVD. The paper version is a scantron
exam that must be ordered through National Stroke Association. Click

The American Stroke Association, in conjunction with the American
Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the National Institute of Neurological
Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) has developed a free, CME/CE certified,
online training program for healthcare professionals to learn or review
how to administer the NIH Stroke Scale for acute stroke assessment.
The Great Lakes Regional Stroke Network offers quarterly quality of care
calls that are stroke related for healthcare professionals that meet the
JC requirement of 8 hours of continuing education for a stroke team. To
