“The resources, staff and coordination provided by the Network have
increased the focus on the burden of stroke in Ohio… Network staff has
provided structure and direction to our initiatives by locating and
disseminating resources and coordinating the educational and
surveillance activities both in the region and the individual states...” .
Barbara Pryor, RD, LD, MS, Ohio Department of Health
“The Network has brought networking, and educational and technical information to a
state which has no funding for stroke prevention programs. Plans also include a
media campaign which would not be possible without the Network funding”.
Sue
Percifield, RN, MSN, Indiana State Department of Health
“The GLRSN has provided impetus for Minnesota to form a state stroke
committee intent on improving the state of stroke prevention and care in
our state. By bringing together clinicians, EMS professionals, public
health professionals with an interest and expertise in stroke, the
Minnesota Stroke Committee is planning important training opportunities
for health care providers, developing and implementing systems-level
changes in the health care system, and laying out strategies for organizational and public policy to impact stroke. This collaborative
effort would not be occurring without the guidance and support -
including financial - of the GLRSN”.
Albert Tsai, PhD, Minnesota
Department of Health.
“The GLRSN's funding allowed Wisconsin to establish the Wisconsin Stroke Committee
(WSC). The WSC started in October 2004 then met face-to-face meeting semi-annually
and convened monthly teleconferences for each workgroup/panel between face-to-face
meetings. The WSC accomplished a Wisconsin Stroke Plan and is the phase of
implementing the Stroke Plan. It would have been really hard for us to achieve what
we have right now without the assistance from GLRSN".
Mike Yuan, MPH, Wisconsin
Department of Health and Family Services.
“The GLRSN provides timely information and networking opportunities. It is a hard
working group that has one core person that responds promptly to questions,
concerns and disseminates current vital information about stroke. The GLSRN is
committed to controlling the disease process by increasing awareness and ensuring
timeliness of care. My collaboration with this network has proved very insightful
and positive. Other Networks should follow the lead of the GLRSN."
