in Progress:
A Fools
Errand?: Anti-Vaccination Movements and The Democratization of American
Medicine. This book will explore the contemporary anti-vaccination/vaccine
safety movement, focusing on the period from 1982 to the present but placing
this recent era in global and national historical perspective.
"A
Middle-Class Hero is Something to Be: Radicals and Radicalism from Tom
Paine to Ralph Nader." In this largely biographical work, I plan
to explore on a broader and more national canvas the tension between the
supposed conservatism of American middle-class culture and the continuous
flourishing of dissident social movements and political ideals among the
middle class.
