The Council on Teacher Education was established by the University of Illinois' Board of Trustees in 1943-44 to formulate policies and programs of student selection, retention, guidance, preparation, and placement in elementary and secondary schools. Future Teachers Association
The Future Teachers Association at the University of Illinois at Chicago is a pre-professional organization dedicated to assisting UIC students through the teaching preparation and certification process. The FTA assists new students to UIC, both freshmen and transfer, in adjusting to university life and ensuring that they can use all available resources to become a certified teacher.
