Employee Recognition Month

Award of Merit

The Awards of Merit is conferred by the University to honor outstanding University staff.

CAPE Award

The Chancellor's Academic Professional Excellence (CAPE) award recognizes demonstrated excellence of Academic Professional staff. The CAPE award is based on peer review broadly selected from the ranks of the Academic Professional community.
The Chancellor's Academic Professional Excellence Award (CAPE) was established in 1988 to recognize demonstrated excellence of academic professional staff, to encourage professional development and to convey the campus' high regard for the contributions of a key segment of the academic community.
Each year, a maximum of four academic professionals may receive the CAPE Award. The award provides a $1,000 permanent increase to the individual's salary, along with a $2,000 one-time cash award

Janice Watkins Award for Distinguished Civil Service


This Award recognizes exceptional support staff who demonstrate a dedication to people and excellent work performance. Established in 1975, this award is based on peer review selected from the ranks of the cupport staff community.

UIC Service Recognition Awards

The Service Recognition Award recognizes all staff service rendered to the University in five-year increments. Faculty service is recognized beginning with twenty-five years of service.
Service Recognition Awards for 5-20 years of service will be conferred by the individual department's during Employee Recognition Week.
Individuals with 25-50 years will be recognized at a campus-wide ceremony held in conjunction with the UIC Award of Merit ceremony.


 

 

Campus Charitable Fund Drive

CCFD is a once-a-year worksite fundraising drive that enables employees to contribute to one or more of the participating charities through payroll deduction and/or by giving a one-time donation. Your contribution can help children, feed the hungry, preserve our environment and much more


 

 

Retirement Luncheon

Retirement Recognition Program
The Retirement Recognition Program is an annual event held in the Fall of each year to recognize UIC emplyees who retire between September 1 - August 31 of each year.


 

 

Retirement Planning Conference

A retirement planning conference is held annually to provide UIC faculty, staff, and families with information to assist planning for retirement. Speakers deal with social, psychological, financial, and estate aspects of retirement. UIC Benefit Center and SURS representatives also provide current benefit and legislative information.


Information on 2007 Conference


Periodically, SURS also offers preretirement sessions whereby employees can meet with SURS counselors on an individual basis. For more information call the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) – 1-800-275-7877.
