Benefits

The Benefit Center administers the benefits program for over 11,500 benefit-eligible employees. This administration includes:

  • presenting benefits information during New Hire Orientation
  • processing changes in status, termination, leaves of absence, long term disability, Central Management Services (CMS) discrepancies, audit report discrepancies, 403 B and 457 Deferred Compensation, death claims, etc.
  • counseling employees in any of the above activities
  • assisting new hires with insurance selection
  • answering questions concerning COBRA and cost of enrollment under COBRA
  • acting as liaison between employees and the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) or with Central Management Services (CMS)
  • assisting employees with dependent recertification each spring and fall
  • assisting employees during Benefits Choice Open Enrollment
  • responding to questions concerning benefits publications, CMS policies, etc.
