While Compensation policies are being reviewed and revised or developed, please contact a member of the compensation team if you have questions about special pay adjustments (e.g. mid-year increases, counter offers, etc. ) for Academic professional employees.

Overcompensation

What is Overcompensation?

Overcompensation is supplemental pay for Academic Professionals. Employees are eligible for this type of supplemental pay if one of the following two situations has occurred:

An Academic Professional employee has been offered a special assignment that takes place outside of their normal work hours and the assignment’s task is separate and distinct from the duties and responsibilities of their primary job function. The special assignment can be performed either in the employee’s home college (but not the same department) or in another department/college within the University of Illinois System.

An Academic Professional employee has temporarily been given the additional responsibility of a vacant position in their home department and a search is in progress to back-fill that vacant role.Each request must be pre-approved by HR-Compensation and the duration of the Overcompensation request should not exceed 12 months.
