Performance Expectations

UIC is a diverse workplace and each job position has unique responsibilities, requires particular expertise, and offers specific challenges. Having a clear understanding of the tasks, behaviors, and competencies you are expected to demonstrate in performance of your job is vital to ensuring your success at UIC.

Be sure to work with your manager to develop an understanding of the specific performance expectations for your job position. Your manager can help clarify these expectations by completing a Planning and Performance Expectations (DOC) form.

When to Establish Performance Expectations

If your are a new employee, be sure to schedule time with your manager during the first week of employment to discuss performance expectations. All employees should review performance expectations during their annual Employee Performance Review.

If you are ever uncertain of what is expected of you don’t hesitate to schedule a meeting with your manager and ask for clarification.

The job description for your position (where available); including specific duties, responsibilities, and required competencies.
The Planning and Performance Expectations form prepared by your manager.
