A Diverse and Inclusive Work Environment

‹ | ›

Achieving Excellence Through Diverse Perspectives

UIC’s student body is among the most diverse in the nation, ranking 13th in U.S News and World Report’s Ethnic Diversity index. The recognition and appreciation of diversity in UIC HR goes well beyond the standard markers of diversity to incorporate more than gender and ethnicity, with a staff that values all differences whether they be age, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, beliefs, values, knowledge, experience, and ways of thinking and learning.

Diversity brings a strategic advantage to UIC. Through diversity, innovation and problem-solving at UIC are powered by a great depth and variety of perspectives, cutting through group-think and increasing access to the best talent.

The UIC Human Resources Department and UIC HR Organizational Effectiveness are committed to supporting employee diversity and increasing UIC’s ability to leverage diversity through:
Policies and practices that are inclusive and accommodate all perspectives
Expanding awareness and understanding about diversity as an operational imperative
Increasing cultural competence across all staff levels
