Compensation

The Compensation Department administers the compensation/classification program of the University using the State Universities Civil Service System guidelines. It is responsible for assisting in the development and approval of the Principal Administrative Position Exemption (PAPE) forms used throughout the university. It provides guidance to departments on many issues.

Services include:

  • classifying civil service positions
  • developing and maintaining civil service job descriptions
  • developing and maintaining PAPE descriptions
  • monitoring cyclical audits of both civil service and PAPE descriptions and employee signatures
  • participating in State University Civil Service System audits every two years
  • participating in the development/revision of civil service classification specifications
  • participating in annual salary surveys
  • participating in special compensation projects/analysis to assist various departments
  • training staff in how to write a PAPE or job descriptions
  • providing compensation assistance to offsite locations including Peoria, Rockford and Springfield
  • assisting staff with use of DART to transmit requisitions, PAPES, reclassifications, reallocations,etc.
  • responding to inquiries concerning compensation policies, procedures.
