- Bachelor's degree in business administration, management or a field related to the position
- Two years of professional level accounting, managerial and/or business experience, one year of which was at an administrative level. One year of experience at a university.

- Ability to work effectively with the staff and public.

They are responsible for the overall coding operations of a large unit, must demonstrate proficiency in coding and must be knowledgeable of the requirements of industry standards such as Medicare and/or Managed Care regulations, ICD-9 and CPT systems of coding. Applicants must be able to code physician and ancillary medical services for receiving maximum allowable reimbursement from payors. Must be able to train and supervise lower level coders, research coding issues and audit coding transactions and compose reports. Applicants must possess three years of experience in ACD-9 CM and CPT-4 coding in acute care.
