Each year the Institute for the Humanities brings a scholar to the UIC community whose innovative work has played a crucial role in reconceptualizing the disciplines of the humanities. This Visiting Fellow presents a public lecture and leads a seminar for faculty and advanced graduate students.

The 2011-12 Visiting Fellow will be Nancy Fraser, Henry A. and Louise Loeb Professor of Political and Social Science, and Department Chair, New School for Social Research.  Professor Fraser’s work concentrates on social and political theory, feminist theory, and contemporary French and German thought.  Her most recent works include, “Feminism, Capitalism, and the Cunning of History,” New Left Review 56 (March-April 2009), and Scales of Justice: Reimagining Political Space in a Globalizing World (2008).

Nancy Fraser will be in residence at UIC from March 12-15, 2012, offering a public lecture and a seminar.  The lecture is open to the public.  The seminar is open to faculty and advanced graduate students. Preregistration is not required but is highly recommended.
