BIOS     100            Biology of Cells and Organisms
         5 hours.
        Animals used in instruction. BIOS 100 and BIOS 101 may be taken in any order.  To be properly registered, students must enroll in one Laboratory-Discussion and one Lecture. 

BIOS     101            Biology of Populations and Communities
         5 hours.
        Animals used in instruction. BIOS 100 and BIOS 101 may be taken in any order.  To be properly registered, students must enroll in one Laboratory-Discussion and one Lecture. 

BIOS     199            Introduction to Research
         1 hours.
        Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading only. May be repeated. Prerequisite(s): Concurrent registration in BIOS 196 or approval of the department.   

BIOS     220            Mendelian and Molecular Genetics
         3 hours.
        No credit may be applied toward the biological sciences major unless credit is also obtained for BIOS 221. Prerequisite(s): BIOS 100 and BIOS 101 and MATH 090 and credit or concurrent registration in CHEM 232, or the equivalents.  To be properly registered, students must enroll in one Lecture-Discussion and one Lecture.

        Prerequisite(s): Credit or concurrent registration in BIOS 220.  During fall and spring terms, combined section final exam will be held Thursday of finals week from 1 to 3 p.m.

BIOS     299            Honors Biology

        May be repeated. Prerequisite(s): Membership in Honors College, or, for superior students, approval of the department; and registration in a biological sciences course (except BIOS 391 or BIOS 393 or BIOS 395 or BIOS 399) and consent of the instructor. Open only to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.  Honors course. Restricted to Honors students. Instructor Approval Required

        Prerequisite(s): BIOS 100 and BIOS 101 or the equivalent; and credit or concurrent registration in either CHEM 130 or CHEM 232.

Prerequisite(s): Minimum of 3.00 grade point average in biological sciences courses and consent of the instructor.  This course counts toward the limited number of independent study hours accepted toward the degree and the major.

Recommended background: Junior standing.  This course counts toward the limited number of independent study hours accepted toward the degree and the major.
