         Modern Africa
       3 hours.  Same as HIST 242. Cultural Diversity course.  To be properly registered, students must enroll in one Discussion/Recitation and one Lecture-Discussion.

         Independent Study: Special Topics
       3 hours.  May be repeated to a maximum of 9 hours. Prerequisite(s): Consent of the instructor and approval of the head of the department of African-American studies. Departmental Approval Required
