Scholarship Selection Criteria for

Tutorium in Intensive English


Each year, the CCSL grants two 1-year scholarships for the UIC Tutorium in Intensive English.

The scholarship applicants must:

  • Show potential for admission to any of the UIC's programs and contribute back to the community through their specific profession or work. Priority will be given to applicants meeting the first condition.

  • Prove financial need.

  • Provide evidence of commitment to Latino issues through community involvement.

  • Be nominated in writing by a Latino community organization.

  • Meet and comply with all requirements for admission and completion of the UIC Tutorium in Intensive English.

  • Submit a 500-word statement explaining your future career goals and indicating how the tutorium will help you achieve them. The statement may be written in Spanish.
  • Nominations can be sent between April 1st and June 1st of every year and should be addressed to:

    The CCSL Community Liaison Sub-Committee in conjunction with the CCSL Executive Committee will appoint a Scholarship Review Committee. The Scholarship Review Committee will evaluate all the nominations, interview the candidates and will select the winners of the scholarship award. Final decisions will be made no later than July 15 of each calendar year. Winners will be officially notified by mail.
