Services - Daley Library Circulation Policy
The UIC Library's
Film Collection is available for instructional use in conjunction with
UIC Audiovisual Services. Instructors who would like to use a Library-owned
film for a classroom showing must contact the UIC Library Film Center
at 312.996.2543 or the Daley Library Reserve Desk at 312.996.2719 for
scheduling arrangements. Film requests are granted on a first-come,
first-served basis and should be received at least two weeks in advance
to ensure that the film is available on the date(s) requested. Emergency
requests are accepted based upon availability of the film.
Films scheduled
through Audiovisual Services and the Library Film Center are charged
to the instructor and can be retrieved from the Daley Library Reserve
Desk by the instructor or Audiovisual Services staff. Once a request
has been submitted and filled, the title is designated for the instructor's
course and reserved for the dates requested. The standard loan period
for VHS tapes and DVDs is three days; however, items requested for classroom
showings are charged to the instructor for three weeks. This ensures
ample time to preview, show, and return the material.
Instructors who retain films after the classroom showing are subject
to standard Library audiovisual overdue fines if returned after the
due date. Questions about overdue materials, fines and billing should
be directed to the Daley Library Reserve Desk at 312.996.2719 or LIB-RES@uic.edu.
Audiovisual
Rental Fines and Fees
The UIC Library
Film Center requests video titles from insitutions and rental agencies
for classroom use. The Library absorbs the cost of renting materials
and shipping them to and from the lending agencies. However, lenders
apply overdue charges when materials are not returned by the designated
due dates and these charges are assessed to instructors who fail to
return materials on time.
The full value of
an item plus a $25.00 processing fee is charged for lost items. In some
instances, a replacement copy of the title may be accepted in lieu of
the fines.
Overdue fines, fines,
and express shipping charges vary depending upon the orverdue guidelines
of the lender, but instructors should inquire about possible overdue
charges when requesting materials. Extensions or renewals are sometimes
available for video rentals. Contact the UIC Library Film Center, 312.996.2543
or jdrzal@uic.edu for specific information.
Fines and fees for
all audiovisual rentals and for titles in the UIC Library Film Collection
are generated by the Daley Library Reserve Des. Contact LIB-RES@uic.edu
or 312.996.2719 to inquire about audioviual overdue fines charged
to your account.
