Hurricane Katrina
one year later creates a rising tide of government information

If any of you are thinking of using the government's social, political, and economic response to these events in your classes, there are over 100 of these official information sources/reports. I marvel at the amount of information about this tragedy that is "freely" available through the web for anyone who has the patience (or the luck to work with a librarian) to sort through it all.

In brief, here are a handful of major executive and legislative information sources (some are large files and may take a few minutes to download):

The House launched a series of hearings and reports through an ad hoc committee it established shortly after the scale of the disaster became painfully obvious, here is select list of their findings:
