Biographical History

Antoinette “Tina” Marie De Rosa (1944 to 2007) was raised in Chicago’s Little Italy Neighborhood, and later established herself as an Italian American writer. In 1966, she completed a Bachelors degree with a concentration in Sociology at Mundelein College of Loyola, Chicago. In 1977, she completed a Masters degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). In 1980, De Rosa published the novel Paper Fish, which was translated into Italian in a 2007 edition and published as Pesci di Carta. Over the course of her career, De Rosa published fiction excerpts, creative non-fiction, and poetry. As a freelance writer, De Rosa wrote the biography "Bishop John Baptist Scalabrini: Father to the Migrants" published in 1987. From 1977 to 1982, De Rosa received grants as a Writer in Residence of the Ragdale Foundation, in Lake Forest, Illinois. De Rosa also used the pen name Caroline Caliendo. For four years, she worked as a Communications Director at the Urban Transportation Center of UIC. Later, she would support herself as an administrative assistant and as an editor for biomedical researchers in the greater Chicagoland area.
