Similarities Between PubMed and Ovid MEDLINE
|
- PubMed and Ovid MEDLINE search the same MEDLINE database (PubMed includes some citations in addition to those from the MEDLINE database)
- PubMed will automatically map to MeSH terms behind the scenes; Ovid MEDLINE automatically maps terms to MeSH (when concepts entered individually)
- Combine searches together using the Search History
- Clinical Queries EBM filters
- Both contains Cochrane citations (Ovid provides links to the full-text)
- Link out to 10000 full text-journals owned by UIC
- Print, email, or save results
- Several formats to display results
- Save searches and create auto alerts to have emails sent when new
citations entered on specified topic (PubMed uses My NCBI; Ovid offers
a "save search" feature)

NOTE: Other UIC databases also provide interfaces to access and
search MEDLINE including MDConsult, Science Direct, EMBASE, OCLC First Search,
and SciFinder Scholar. Although these interfaces are available, both PubMed
and Ovid MEDLINE provide superior interfaces for searching including MeSH
databases and automatic mapping features. |
