Reserve Policies & Procedures
General Information
The Purpose of the Reserve Collection of the Library of the Health Sciences-Peoria is to control
circulation of high use material in order to provide for maximum use of available copies.
Reserves should include only required readings in support of classroom instruction.
Reserve materials may be submitted at any time for future semesters, and may be designated for more
than one semester. Materials should be submitted to the library in a timely manner to guarantee the material
will be available by the beginning of the semester.
Permanent Reserves
The permanent reserve collection includes the latest editions of major medical textbooks
in the basic and clinical sciences. Earlier editions of these texts can be found in the general stacks.

Board Review
The latest editions of the board review series are kept on reserve at the circulation desk.
Earlier editions of board review material can be found in the general stacks.

Nursing Reserves
Nursing faculty designate books, videotapes, and other materials for nursing reserve.

Assorted Resources
The Library has laptops, slide viewer, otoscopies, ophthamoscopes , PDAs, and reflex hammer to lend to students,
faculty and staff for library use or check out.

Submitting / Processing Reserve Materials
Books, media, journal articles and /or other photocopies may be placed on reserve by submitting a list with complete citations
and Course information. Forms are available in the library or online. The library will make every effort to secure copies of requested
items not owned by the Library of the Health Sciences-Peoria.
