Library of the Health Sciences - RockfordLibrary CollectionsThe Library of the Health Sciences of the University of Illinois at Chicago is composed of four physically separate libraries. The parent resource is located in Chicago and three other sites are located in Peoria, Rockford, and Urbana. The Library of the Health Sciences at Rockford was developed primarily to serve the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. The majority of the collection is clinical medicine. Other areas of collection include nursing, consumer health, allied health, biomedicine, and materials to support the medical school curriculum. There are approximately 45,000 volumes in the Library including books, approximately 250 journals, and special collections. A history of medicine collection includes many classic medical books and is located in locked display cases in the library. Most materials are in open stacks, immediately available for use by library patrons. None of the Library's materials are on microfilm. An online catalog called UICCAT is used to find materials housed in Rockford and at other sites. Online indexes/databases are available to find citations for journal articles and some full-text articles. A print list of journals held in Rockford is available at the Circulation desk and can be found in various locations throughout the library. Ownership of individual journal titles can be ascertained through a search of UICCAT. Return to LHS-Rockford Home Page
