Library of the Health Sciences - RockfordLibrary InstructionLHS-Rockford offers a number of instructional pathways for faculty, students, and staff at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford as well as others to learn to use library resources effectively and efficiently. Reference Instruction Information/Circulation staff offer one-on-one or point-of-use instruction during normal library business hours on week-days (8:00 am - 4:30 pm). Limited assistance is available evenings and weekends. Appointments may be scheduled for assistance either during normal business hours or at other times. Scheduled Workshops The Information Services Department offers a number of workshops each semester on a variety of topics. Classes are generally taught in the computer lab located adjacent to the library. These workshops are open to any user of LHS-Rockford, whether affiliated or not. Dates and times of currently scheduled workshops will be announced in the fall and spring. Private or group instruction may be arranged by appointment. If you are interested in learning more about a particular library resource, please send an e-mail to lib-lhsr@uic.edu. Curriculum Based Instruction University faculty teaching courses within the curriculum at Rockford may consult with a librarian to teach library or Internet resources in a segment of a course. Please allow at least one month for librarians to prepare for the class. Classes may be taught in the electronic classroom or the on-site computer labs. Contact Sue Hollander, Coordinator of Information Services, to arrange this type of instruction. Orientations and Outreach Information Services staff provide specialized orientations to the library for UIC affiliated and non-affiliated groups.
