Online Exam Review Materials
Below are instructions for accessing a variety of online resources with
practice questions. This information is also available on our Exam Review Handout in a printable format.
Harrison's Online Self-Assessment & Board Review
Contains over 800 online multiple-choice questions. You can test
yourself online, view your score, the answers, and linkouts to the
chapters within Harrison's Online that provide coverage of the topics.
To access this resource:
- Select
AccessMedicine.
- Select Harrison's Online.
- At Lower Right of Screen, Select Self-Assessment.
Lange Educational Library
This section of AccessMedicine contains approximately 30 online full-text review books covering the
basic sciences and clinical medicine.
To access this resource:
- Select
AccessMedicine.
- In the center of the screen, view the listing of the review books.
- Select the discipline you need and link out to the full text.
USMLEasy.com
This resource contains about 3,000 practice questions for both Step 1
and Step 2. It also contains about 300 questions for Step 3. The
questions can be answered online, with immediate scoring and links to
answers/explanations.
To access this resource:
- Select
AccessMedicine.
- Select LANGE Self-Assessment Tool at the lower middle portion of the page.
- At the login pop-up screen, link to "Sign up for a Free Personal Account".
- Use the ID/password you established to login to Self-Assessment Tool. You may need to
select the LANGE Self-Assessment Tool link from the main page a second time.
- Select USMLE Step 1 (lite) or Step 2 (lite) or Step 3 (lite).
- Select Practice Exams.
- Select the type of test you wish to take, the number of questions, etc.
Ebrary - PreTest Series
Ebrary is an online library of over 25,000 full-text books across all
disciplines. Many of PreTest books are available through ebrary.
To access this resource:
- Select
ebrary.
- You will need to download the ebrary reader to view the books. If it
is not already installed on your computer, you will be prompted to do
so.
- In the simple search screen type "pretest" and click the Search
button.
- Alternatively on the advanced screen type "examinations,
questions" (or just "questions") as a subject word. Adding a subject in
an additional subject box (i.e. obstetrics) will help narrow down
results.
- On the results page, click on the title of the book to view the
contents. There is a menu bar at the top which provides options for paging
forward, searching the text, and highlighting passages.
William's Obtetrics Study Guide Online Self Assessment
Contains over 2,600 online multiple-choice questions and answers. You
can test yourself online, view your score, the answers, and linkouts to
sections of AccessMedicine that provide coverage of the topics.
To access this resource:
- Select
AccessMedicine.
- Select William's Obstetrics.
- At Lower Right of Screen, Select Self-Assessment.
AccessSurgery - Board Review
Online multiple choice questions derived from Schwartz's Principles of
Surgery: Self-Assessment and Board Review and from Surgery Review
Illustrated.
To access this resource:
- Select
AccessSurgery.
- From the grey menu bar in AccessSurgery, select Board Review.
Exam Review Books
The Library owns and actively collects exam review books across various
disciplines. To see a list of exam review books owned by the Library of
the Health Sciences-Urbana:
- Select the
Exam Review Books.
- Select a specialty area. Note that USMLE materials are located in the
MEDICINE category.
- View a list of the recently-published books owned by the Library in
that category.
- Click on the call number to check availability through the Library's
catalog, UICCAT. Through the catalog entry you will see the availability of the item (whether or not it is currently
checked out). You can also use the catalog to request items from other sites or place Save
Requests on those books that are checked out to other users.
