Do author or title searches in UICCAT, the online catalog for the Library of the Health Sciences - Urbana and the rest of the UIC libraries. If a record is found, look to see if there is a LHS-Urbana location for the book.

How do I find the book once I locate it in UICCAT?

The record in UICCAT will identify if LHS-Urbana owns it and will indicate the call number. Generally, the books are shelved in an alphabetic and numeric scheme on the second floor of the library. Sometimes there will be a notation in UICCAT that the book is shelved in another part of the library, such as reference or reserve which are both on the first floor of the library.


I understand the Library of the Health Sciences-Urbana has nursing research papers? How do I know which ones are there? Where are they kept?

For a list of the nursing research papers, click here. Use the "Find" option in your browser to search for an author or a word in the title. The research papers are shelved on the first floor of the library in one of the filing cabinets by the staircase.

The Library selectively collects federal government documents and Illinois state documents. Guides are available to assist in finding residency materials, statistical resources, health instruments, drug information, and physician and medical specialist resources.
