PubMed searches the MEDLINE database plus
publisher-supplied citations. The MEDLINE database is produced by the
National Library of Medicine and provides bibliographic citations to
journal articles from the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry,
veterinary medicine, and the preclinical sciences. The coverage extends
back to the 1950's. Close to 5,000 biomedical journals from around the
world are indexed in this system.
Web of
Science
This database is produced by the Institute for Scientific
Information (ISI) and indexes over 8,000 journals. It provides subject
and author searching as well as the ability to perform cited reference
searches to determine how often a particular author has been cited and by
whom.
Journal
Citation Reports
This system, from the Institute for Scientific
Information (ISI), provides ranked listings of journals based on citation
patterns. Users can view rankings of journals within separate specialty
areas such as Biochemistry, Infectious Diseases, Pathology, etc.
SciFinder Scholar Use Internet Explorer Only
SciFinder Scholar is accessible in the Chemistry Library. It provides
access to journal articles (through Chem Abstracts), patents, substance
data, chemical reactions, chemical regulatory data, and chemical
suppliers.
