DATABASES

PubMed
PubMed searches the MEDLINE database plus publisher-supplied citations. MEDLINE is produced by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). It is a database which indexes over 4,800 biomedical journals from around the world and dates back to the 1950s. From this database you can perform topic searches and retrieve citations to articles. Many of the citations will include full-text links.

PsycINFO
The PsycINFO database covers the professional and academic literature in the field of psychology and related disciplines including medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, and other areas. This system indexes over 1,400 journals published in over 30 languages, dissertations, technical reports, book chapters, and books.

Web of Science
This database is produced by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) and indexes over 8,000 journals. It provides subject and author searching as well as the ability to perform cited reference searches to determine how often a particular author has been cited and by whom.

Electronic Journals (Online Full-Text)

UIUC E-Journal List
This is the UIUC online journal collection and is searchable by journal title. All titles should be accessible from anywhere on campus.

UIC E-Journal List
This is a searchable/browsable list of the UIC e-journal collection. These journals are accessible from the Library of the Health Sciences.

Print Journal Collection

UIUC Online Library Catalog
Access this system to see if a journal is available in print at one of the libraries on the Champaign-Urbana campus. Search by "Start of Magazine/Journal Title."

UICCAT
This is the UIC Library online catalog. Search this system to see if a journal is available in print at the Library of the Health Sciences-Urbana. Search by Journal Title.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan
If you need an article in a journal that is not available either online or in print at this campus, you may request it through Interlibrary Loan. This link provides access to an online form used for loan requests. This process may take 1-2 weeks.

Writers' Workshop

This system is available to students, faculty, and staff. It allows you to create your own database of citations from literature searches. You can then link out from a Word document to generate and format bibliographies for papers.
