CINAHL - Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature
The CINAHL database indexes over 1,600 journals
in the fields of Nursing and Allied Health along with the publications of
the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing. In
addition, it also includes citations to nursing dissertations, selected
conference proceedings, standards of professional practice, educational
software, health care books, and audiovisual materials in nursing.
PubMed @ UIC
PubMed searches the MEDLINE database plus
publisher-supplied citations, covering over 4,800 biomedical journals from around the world.
EBM Reviews - ACP Journal Club
The ACP Journal Club Collection consists of two journals ACP Journal Club,
a publication of the American College of Physicians, and Evidence-Based
Medicine, a joint publication with the British Medical Journal Group.
These journals provide critiques of current research articles in the field
of health sciences.
RefWorks
RefWorks is a bibliographic management program which allows you to save
citations from a variety of databases and then automatically format your
reference list. RefWorks also works with Microsoft Word to automatically
attach and format in-text references as well as creating the bibliography at
the end of a paper.
UIC Electronic Resources
You may want to search databases covering
other fields of study. The UIC Library has access to dozens of databases.
Some which may be of interest for your research include: PsycInfo, ERIC,
Social Science Abstracts, Current Contents, Web of Science.
FINDING THE ARTICLES
Electronic Journals (Online Full-Text)
Use the UIC Options or Findit@UIC icons from CINAHL or PubMed to
link to the full-text article, if available. If full text is not
available, you can use this option to search UICCAT, the Library's online
catalog. Using UICCAT will help you determine if the journal is available
in print. If not available online or in print, you can also use this
option to submit an interlibrary loan for the article you need.
UIC Electronic Journals
This is an alphabetic list, by journal title of the UIC Library
collection. It is also possible to search by exact start of journal title or by words in journal title.
Print Journal Collection
UICCAT
This is the UIC Library online catalog. Search this system to see
if a journal is available in print at the Library of the Health
Sciences-Urbana. Search by Journal Title.
Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan
If you need an article in a journal that is not available either online or
in print at this campus, you may request an interlibrary loan.
