Fayette B. Shaw Papers Finding Aid Available

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) University Archives at the Richard J. Daley Library announces that a finding aid is now available for the Fayette B. Shaw Papers, 1943-1945, 1950-1951.

Fayette B. Shaw was a Professor of Finance at the UIC College of Business Administration from 1954-1984. Prior to joining the University of Illinois, he taught at several other universities, including DePaul University. While Shaw was teaching at DePaul, the Second World War began, and many of his associates and former students joined the military. The Fayette B. Shaw Papers contain correspondence between Shaw and his associates during the war. Shaw would type summaries of activities taking place at DePaul University and the latest information he had about his associates serving in the war. He would then send mimeographed copies to former students and associates he knew who were serving in the armed forces. The incoming correspondence generally describes life in the military both in training and during the war itself.

An online version of the finding aid for the Fayette B. Shaw Papers is available at the University Archives Web site. To view a print copy or to use the collection, please visit the Sharon A. Hogan Reading Room during regular reading room hours. For more information, email the University Archives lib-spec@uic.edu or see http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/specialcoll/services/UA/index.shtml.
