On Monday, July 14, starting at 11:00 AM, Library Systems and the Academic Computing and Communications Center (ACCC) will be installing the latest version of the EZproxy server software. This is the software that enables the UIC community to connect to more than 10,000 Library-licensed electronic resources from their off-campus workplaces.
Most of the benefits of this upgrade will be behind the scenes. However, one enhancement patrons may notice is that the new software operates over the normal ports that any web browser uses, and patrons will no longer need to open additional ports in their firewall.
During the changeover, ACCC will move the software from the test server to the active server, and there may be brief disruptions in access to Library resources for both on-and off-campus users.
Once the changeover is complete, users accessing resources from off-campus may need to update bookmarks to specific electronic resources to new URLs.
