Bob Malinowsky Honored By Special Libraries Association
H. Robert Malinowsky, professor and principal bibliographer for the University Library was inducted into the Special Libraries Association Hall of Fame last month during SLA's annual conference.
SLA is an international association that represents the interests of thousands of information professionals in more than 70 countries. Special librarians are information resource experts who collect, analyze, evaluate, package, and disseminate information to facilitate accurate decision-making in corporate, academic, and government settings. Those inducted into the SLA Hall of Fame are recognized for their long and active careers and distinguished service to the association.
Prof. Malinowsky, a past president of SLA, joined the UIC Library in 1985, following a career as a geological engineer in private industry and professional library positions at the University of Kansas and the University of Denver. His research focuses on bibliographic control of reference sources in science, engineering, medicine, AIDS, and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender issues. He edits the electronic resources E-STREAMS and the AIDS Book Review Journal.
