UIC's University Library is now extending its Electronic Reserves (ERes)
service to permit faster and more efficient access to course readings put on reserve for students. Instructors submit reserve materials to the Library's reserve units by fax, by citation or by URL to have them available to their students electronically. By faxing materials into the system, instructors can provide paper course readings in digital format and be assured that the reserved items continue to meet accepted fair use copyright standards, just as they have in the previous library managed systems. The fax method also assures that materials are available to students the next day.
Students enjoy increased access to reserve materials through ERes: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Students can access the reserves from any computer that has an Internet connection.
ERes uses secure, password-protected course sites making the UIC Library's ERes service an effective alternative for providing course readings. Once students have typed in their log-in, they have access to any of the course reserve materials. Material may be downloaded, printed or bookmarked for later consultation. Unlike traditional print reserves, more than one student may access the material at the same time.
ERes provides easy, fast, and continuous access to course materials on reserve!
