The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) University Archives announces that an online finding aid is now
available for the Maury Massler Papers, located at the Special Collections
Department of the Library of the Health Sciences.
Dr. Massler was
originally a pharmacist, but was persuaded by the prominent UIC dentist
Issac Schour to pursue a career in dentistry instead. Graduating from the
University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1939, he stayed with
college and eventually became Professor and Head of Department of
Pedodontics, a department he helped to organize. He also served as
Associate Dean for Postgraduate and Teacher Education at the College of
Dentistry and was the founder of the American Academy of Pedodontics.
Dr. Massler retired from the College of Dentistry at the University of
Illinois at the Medical Center in 1973 to become the Chairman of
Restorative Dentistry at Tufts University in Boston.
His personal papers contain .25 linear feet of correspondence and ephemera
from 1970-1982.
This online finding aid is part of the University Archives pilot EAD
fining aid program and was encoded in XML using the EAD2002 DTD and later
converted to HTML using a XSL stylesheet. As XML use becomes more
widespread, the XML finding aids will be made available on the web in
their native format.
The finding aid can be found at:
