Carroll LaFleur Birch Finding Aid Available

The University Archives announces that an online finding aid is now available for the Carroll LaFleur Birch Papers, located at the Special Collections Department of the Library of the Health Sciences. Dr. Carroll LaFleur Birch, Professor of Medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Illinois Chicago Professional Colleges (now UIC), was an expert in the fields of tropical medicine, parasitology, and hemophilia. Her papers include three linear feet of material from 1936-1964, including professional and personal correspondence; research and clinical files; photographs; and manuscripts of published and unpublished material.

This online finding aid is part of the University Archives pilot EAD fining aid program and was encoded in XML using the EAD2002 DTD and later converted to HTML using a XSL stylesheet. As XML use becomes more widespread, the XML finding aids will be made available on the web in their native format.

The finding aid can be found at: http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/specialcoll/services/lhsc/ead/RG16.shtml.

The papers are available in the LHS Special Collections Department during regular Reading Room hours, M-F, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. For more information, email the University Archives at lib-spec@uic.edu, or visit http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/specialcoll/services/UA/index.shtml.
