Changes in the UICCAT Online Catalog Improve Navigation and Search Options
The Library has made changes in the UICCAT search page to make navigation easier and to make search results more useful.
 |
A sleek navigation bar in a contemporary typeface/font with the
options/functions users need while using UICCAT. |
 | By clicking on locations and options in the "Quick Limit" menu, users can limit
searches by media types, such as books, magazines/journals, film/videos,
and music scores, as well as by items from the last 5 years or in any library location. |
 |
The "More like this" view shows search options available
to find titles similar to the one already retrieved. Users can find
similar items by author or other name, by related title, or by subject
heading. |
 |
Expanded Help files. To better explain how to use UICCAT
effectively, additional help files about timing out and Internet browser
compatibility have been added. |
 |
Users can link to other ILCSO libraries by clicking on the new ILLINET button at the top of the screen. This link enables users to search the holdings of 66 other Illinois libraries; UIC students, faculty and can staff check out books and use materials in these other ILCSO libraries. |
The UIC Library is continually improving our catalog to
make searching easier for our patrons. If you have any suggestions or comments, send them by clicking on the Contact the UIC Library.
