RefWorks Formats Your Bibliographies and Your Research Papers as You Write
RefWorks http://refworks.lib.uic.edu is a Web-based bibliography and database manager that allows you to create your own personal database by importing references from online databases or by typing in the information. You can use these references in writing papers and, in seconds, automatically format your paper's references and the bibliography to the correct journal format (e.g., APA, MLA, JAMA).
The UIC Library has purchased campus-wide access to RefWorks. Because RefWorks is Web-based, there is no software to download. Windows' users who have Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer can download Write-N-Cite to run an abbreviated version of RefWorks in their word processor.
Create your account -- http://refworks.lib.uic.edu -- and you can access your database from any computer on campus or outside of the campus network.
To help you get started, the Library provides a quick start guide (pdf), a FAQ page and a help page. Users also can send questions to the Ask a Librarian.
The Library invites users to hands-on demonstrations to learn more about Refworks, please visit Library Instruction for dates.
