The University of Illinois at Chicago's 2004 Unity Month celebration focuses on uniting the distinctive diversity of the campus with the diverse communities of Chicago.
The Daley Library honors this diversity with a display of photographs from the Comer Archive of Chicago in the Year 2000 (CITY2000). The display celebrates the many religions, races, nationalities, sexual orientations, and abilities of Chicago's citizens. The Comer Archive comprises hundreds of thousands of photographs of the people, communities, neighborhoods, public spaces, and architecture of the city. The complete collection may be viewed online at http://city2000.lib.uic.edu.
The City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations designates September as Unity Month to increase sensitivity to issues of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation and ability/disability.
