The UIC Library is pleased to announce that the historical databases America: History and Life and Historical Abstracts now link to the full-text of the journals offered by Project Muse http://muse.jhu.edu. When searching these historical databases you will automatically see links to the full-text of your research results. Links are also made to all JSTOR titles. Historical Databases
The UIC Library announces the availability of a new version of the SciFinder Scholar client software. SciFinder Scholar 2001 supports searching of the chemical literature through a variety of ways-by author name, research topic, substance identifier, chemical structure, or chemical reaction. The capability to search either references cited in or citing selected articles is a new feature with the 2001 version. The database offers access to references in more than 8,000 journals as well as patents, conference proceedings, dissertations, technical reports, and books. SciFinder Scholar currently indexes more than 41 million chemical substances in literature dating back to 1907. The database provides automatic links to many of UIC's electronic journals making it easy to navigate from search results to the full text of an article. SciFinder Scholar
SciFinder Scholar is licensed for use by UIC-affiliated users only. The client is currently installed on workstations in the Science Library. It is also available for installation on campus computers in laboratories and offices. For full instructions on installing SciFinder Scholar 2001 on your computer see http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/science/resources/scifinder/macinstall.shtml for Macintosh instructions or http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/science/resources/scifinder/pcinstall.shtml for Windows instructions.
