Wilson Databases
Users of the Library's electronic resources will notice that some of their
favorites look different and that search results now link to the full text
of articles. OCLC FirstSearch now provides all of the indexing and full
text to the Wilson databases and can be found through the FirstSearch URL
at www.uic.edu/depts/lib/reference/resources/firstsearch/index.shtml .
The Wilson databases index current materials that are of general interest
to our undergraduates. These indexes now provide full text to a major
part of the material that is indexed. The annual cost of the
index/abstracts is $41,445, with the State Library underwriting the cost
of the full text. The following databases are available through
FirstSearch:
Applied Science and Technology Abstracts
Art Abstracts
Biological and Agricultural Index
Business Abstracts
General Science Abstracts
Humanities Abstracts
Library Literature
Readers' Guide
Social Science Abstracts
Each of these databases may also be linked from the Alphabetical List of
Electronic Resources found on the Library's Homepage at
http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/reference/resources/electronicresources.shtml
.
