New FirstSearch Databases
The Library is pleased to announce that the following new FirstSearch
databases are now available by going to the List of Electronic Resources
on the Library's homepage at
http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/reference/resources/electronicresources.shtml
and clicking on FirstSearch.
Clase and Periodica
These two databases are furnished to the Library by the State of Illinois
through IDAL. Clase is an index of Latin American journals in the social
sciences from 1975 to the present and humanities and Periodica covers
journals in the sciences and technology from 1978 to the present. Some
2,600 Latin American language journals are covered, indexing articles,
essays, book reviews, monographs, conference proceedings, technical
reports, interviews and brief notes. The database is maintained by the
Universidad National Autonoma de Mexico.
Essay and General Literary Index
This index cites essays and articles contained in collections of essays
and other works published in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain
in the humanities and social sciences. Each year over 300 volumes and 20
annuals are indexed, providing full bibliographic information. It is
updated annually with the latest update being January 23, 2004. Cost is
$720.00.
Index to Legal Periodicals and Books
This index covers legal journals, yearbooks, institutes, bar association
organs, law reviews, and government publications from the United States,
Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It also cites
book reviews and is monthly. Coverage begins with 1981 to the present.
Cost is $1,674.00.
Library-News is an electronic newsletter reporting on major acquisitions
in the UIC Library, news of changes in the library that may impact on
service, news of newly acquired electronic resources, and news from
Chicago area libraries.
