The Library is pleased to announce that the following new FirstSearch databases are now available by going to the List of Electronic Resources on the Library's homepage at http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/reference/resources/electronicresources.shtml and clicking on FirstSearch.

Biographical Index

This database contains biographical information from English-language periodicals and books in all of the subject areas covered by the Wilson Indexes. It covers articles, books, and autobiographies, including individual personalities and collective biographies. The Biographical Index begins, electronically, with 1984 and is updated monthly.

Book Review Digest

This database cites excerpts from reviews of current English-language fiction and non-fiction books for adults and children. It covers periodicals published in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain and includes only those reviews that have appeared within 18 months of the book's publication. The Book Review Digest begins, electronically, with 1983 and is updated monthly. The paper counterpart is available back to 1905 and can be found on the Index tables of the Daley Reference collection Z1219.C95.

Education Abstracts

This database covers every age, aspect, and sector of the educational community from preschool through college. It provides citations for every article that is at least one column in length. It is part of the Wilson index collection for which the Library has full text to selected articles from the Wilson indexes. The Education Abstracts begins, electronically, with 1983. This database supplements the print Education Index that goes back to 1920 and can be found on the Index tables of the Daley Reference collection Z6813.E23.

These three databases cost $5,689.00.
