FISOnline

The UIC Library now subscribes to FISonline, a business database containing information on some 25,000 companies worldwide. Included is internet access to U. S. public company information on more than 10,000 companies with links to EDGAR (SEC) filings. Basic historical, geographic, and business information through country profiles may, also, be found. FISonline is based on the extensive materials of Moody's Manuals with the addition of current online reports and weekly updates of the news reports.

A basic search may be made by company name or ticker symbol or by an advanced search using one or more general or financial characteristics. With the search results, a request for reports to view on the screen or to download to a spreadsheet may be made that compares companies.

If a company's annual report is to be read, instructions will be given on downloading the necessary software to accommodate the large size of the report.

To search FISonline, open your browser to the UIC Library's homepage http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib and click on the "Index to Databases" icon. Then select FISonline or Global FISonline from the alphabetical list. The direct URL is http://www.fisonline.com/ . Choose member services to begin your search. If you have questions about using FISonline, telephone the Richard J. Daley (Main) Library Reference Department at 312-996-2726 or send e-mail to lib-ref@uic.edu .

Library-News is an electronic newsletter reporting on major acquisitions in the UIC Library, news of changes in the library that may impact on service, and news of newly acquired electronic resources.
